Biodiversity Opportunity Areas
The BOAs are the regional priority areas of opportunity for restoration and creation of Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP)habitats. They are a spatial representation of the BAP targets and are areas of opportunity, not constraint. The BOAs shown in the map do not include all the BAP habitat in the region, nor do they include all the areas where BAP habitat could exist. In particular, more work is needed to develop opportunity areas in urban and in marine environments.
For more information please see the Biodiversity opportunity Map description page where you can down load a PDF copy of this map and a document containing the area statements for each of the Biodiversity Opportunity Areas.
Habitat Data
The Habitat data used in this map is taken from the national BAP habitat inventories. This data will be updated with the more accurate regional data setby the end of July 09. Please follow this link for a report on the BOAs including the proportion of the BAP habitats they cover.
